Following their debut at the Theatre Royal, with their Christmas Show, Putting on the Glitz, Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus raised £1,002.50 for the Rainbow Fund.
The Rainbow Fund award grants through an independent grant giving process to LGBT/HIV organisations in Brighton and Hove who provide effective front line services to LGBT people in the city.
Paul Charlton, Chairman of Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus said:
“We are humbled for your continued support. We really pulled out all the stops this year to deliver a new entertaining show on such a sumptuous stage. We wanted to support Rainbow Fund again this year, knowing that every penny raised will be awarded to a local deserving LGBT and HIV/AIDS organisation.”
Chris Gull, chair of the Rainbow Fund, said:
“During the coming year many smaller groups could lose their funding as national cuts filter down to local organisations. The Rainbow Fund will prioritise these smaller organisations during the next 12 months and make sure they are treated fairly enabling them to continue delivering their services to LGBT people in the city.”
Brighton Gay Men’s chorus will be celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2015 with several planned performances, commencing with their next show Back to the Bond Age which will take place as part of the Brighton Fringe Festival on May 1 and 2 at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Ann Street, Brighton. Among other celebrations planned for their 10th anniversary, the chorus will be holding its annual themed Easter Jamboree – offering fun, games and home-baked cakes by its members – at the Brighton Tavern on Saturday April 4 between 11am and 4pm. Everyone is welcome!
